This extremely steep vineyard produces the most elegant and delicate white wines in the world. The stony, shallow blue slate soil gives the wine a delicate, fresh acidity as well as a unique finesse. The wines of Wehlener Sonnenuhr are exceptionally charming in their youth, with a beguiling scent of white peach and green apple. Yet they will also age well for many decades. In Wehlen there is almost no topsoil. Instead, you find broken and weathered shards of the purest blue slate in the Mosel Valley. This purity is reflected in the wines of this site.
